If you’re a fan of American soccer, brace yourself- Joe Cole is coming stateside. Formerly of such prestigious clubs as mid-table giants Chelsea and 1966 World Cup champions West Ham United, the former England international announced today that he will soon take his mesmerizing dribbling skills and occasional ability to score to the North American Soccer League, and more specifically the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Make no mistake: this is a big coup for the growth of soccer in the United States. From the very beginning of his career Cole’s massive potential has been universally acknowledged, and at age 34 he seems primed to finally unleash it on the world. Plus, in Tampa he will be teamed up with another one of soccer’s top prospects and America’s hope for the future, Freddy Adu. We should all feel privileged to be able to watch these two grow and develop together into world-beaters, right in our own backyard.

To help foster the excitement surrounding his signing, I compiled a highlight video of Cole’s best moments in English club soccer. Hopefully, you’ll be able to see what I consider Cole’s greatest asset- the ability to make others around him look better. Especially Scott Parker.

Welcome to America, Joe!
