Favorites, in no particular order:
This is a terrific dialogue joke from pkellen2313 in the Tom Glavine Photo post. Most dialogue deliveries are about loading up a joke with lots of character and humor, but this one is about timing, a patient way to create just the tiniest bit of anxious expectation. Great job.
In the same post, here's a typically breezy and charming offering from David Hume. It's just his brand of easy, intuitive humor. I love this.
This is adorable, from Same Sad Echo in the Dysfunctional Dolphins post. I think it's worth a smile even before the attribution. Altogether, it's excellent. I also laughed at this goofy comment in the Angry Writers post. The angle is silly, and Same Sad Echo takes it in the exact right direction. Awesome. And? I laughed aloud at this ridiculous effort in the Russian Pole post. I particularly enjoyed the no more Soviet Union line. This guy cracks me up.
Here's a clever pull from FreemanMcNeil in the Dysfunctional Dolphins post. That's very smart. Well done.
Guys, Gene-Rayburner is terrific. Here's an excellent quote in the Jay Gruden post. This is wonderfully heartening. Except . . . I'm pretty sure this is an established commenter using a new handle. I think . . . I think I might even have an idea who it is. Maybe. At any rate, hey! Keep making jokes, bud.
Hey, here's a strong comment from Milo Minderbinder in the Blake Griffin post. This isn't really a joke, is it? It's just a funny comment, a funny thing to say, and these can be tough to pull off. There's no premise-setup-knockdown format, but it does require confident delivery, maybe even more than a joke, because virtually all of its success comes from its tone. Well done.
Here's a long, subtle humdinger from Madoffs Mets in the Angry Writers post. So sharp. I'm surprised this one didn't generate more clueless burner backlash. Or maybe Madoffs Mets dismissed it? At any rate, this is fantastic.
God help me, I laughed aloud at this two-part joke from StuartScottsEye in the Angry Writers post. What the hell. It works.
Here's a great riff from DubaiAtNight in the Russian Pole post. It's simple and smart and DubaiAtNight lays it out there and gets the hell out of the way. Great job.
This is a spectacular, spectacular one-liner from FreeWillyWonka in the Two Plane Crashes post. Yes, it's dark, but it's also a thunderbolt. This is the Comment of the Day.
Total Fucking Duds
Here's some Gawker-style garbage from Talgrath in the Dysfunctional Dolphins post. Oh look! A .gif! AMAZING.
Also in the Dysfunctional Dolphins post, here's something disappointing from Lana, Lana,...LANAAAAAA!!! This thing is totally dead-on-arrival. Lazy, boring, uninspired, and meaningless. Buh. Try harder, bozo. Later on, he went with a line straight out of Futurama in the Dan Le Batard post. It's just like the good old days! [kills self]
Good work today. Take the rest of the night off, on me.
