By and large, not a bad week, everyone. I count 20 named contributors in last week's favorites, and some quality idiots bedeck our podium. Let's hand out some awards!

Last Week's Swinging Dicks

Three of you jokers tied for 3rd place with 2 favorites each: congratulations to marmol heater, Pleatherface, and Milo Minderbinder. For your labors, you have earned a futon assembly manual written entirely in Spanish.

marmol heater's favorite from the week is this little slapstick in Tuesday's Touré Birthday post. I'd say the Busquets horse ain't dead yet, and the gag is still good for situational moments, but its reappearance later in the week was perhaps too soon. Or delivered inadequately. Either way, marmol's smack was hilarious, the second one not so much.

This is a difficult choice, Pleatherface. The reply on Monday was as sound as they come, but the cap-tip will have to go to Friday's Uncle Ray story. The hard switchback midstream makes for some fine, fine humor.

Both of Milo Minderbinder's favorites involve some concise form of misattribution, and my favorite favorite is Monday's Louis Van Gaal bit. Just a beautiful tableau there.

We have a good old fashioned tie for 2nd place with 3 favorites last week. Come on down, cobra, brah! and The Amazing Sneijderman, and please collect this assortment of screws and dowels with no apparent practical use.

Easy decision here, cobra, brah!: the Jim Irsay traffic stop is simple, terse, and vile. Shades of StuartScottsEye can be found in that one.

In keeping with the Irsay theme, The Amazing Sneijderman hooked an amazing about-face on Monday. Well done, gentleman.

Our lone wolf atop the board is RMJ=H with 4 favorites on the week. Kudos, RMJ, you will receive a tube of polysporin approximately 2/3 full and most of a roll of gauze.

This was a tough decision for me. All of RMJ=H's comments were stellar, but Thursday's aw shucks joke deserves another plaudit.

But wait there's more …

The Monday Comment of the Day, from RMJ=H.

The Tuesday Comment of the Day, from snoop-a-loop.

The Wednesday Comment of the Day, from IronMikeGallego (!).

The Thursday Comment of the Day, from RMJ=H (again).

The Friday Comment of the Day, from Pleatherface.

The Lessons of the Week

I don't have much to say this week, and certainly no didacticism to hand down. It's a holiday afterall.

It was good to have IronMikeGallego with us this week, especially because he plopped this magisterial bit down on Wednesday's Bill Simmons post. IMG is one of the best #longform guys around, and his free-association gag sits well beside this classic dialogue from way back when. You've got to admire the sheer zany and pitch-perfect endurance of these comments: how they just go on and on and on but you don't want them to stop because when they do you'll feel somehow emptier inside; how despite their length they blast forward at breakneck speed under a lead foot; how they slip so easily into an imagined persona and relentlessly adhere to that persona in such vivid fashion. These are masterpieces of the craft, and any newcomer should emulate them when considering to go long. Thanks, IronMike.

Well done to all those named above, and much love to those still working to make the nightly favorites. We at the Daily Roundups appreciate your toils, which keep us going, ever on into the void.
